  【MarketWatch纽约10月6日讯】周五有报导称,Google Inc.(GOOG)正在与视讯分享网站YouTube Inc.进行合并谈判,Google可能以约16亿美元的价格收购对方。这一交易将是两家排名前十的网路视讯提供商的合并,将增强Google与新闻集团(NWS)麾下的MySpace.com竞争的实力。

  今天《华尔街日报》在其网站上指出,根据熟知内情的匿名人士提供的消息,Google和YouTube正在进行合并谈判,现在谈判已进入敏感阶段,双方可能分道扬镳。有关此事的报导是由网路日志网站TechCrunch率先披露的,TechCrunch声称其消息也来自匿名人士。

  截至发稿时止,Google和总部位於加州San Mateo的YouTube的代表都没有对MarketWatch就此事进行采访的要求做出回应。

  Google收购YouTube在战略上有充足的理由。虽然在网路搜索领域取得了巨大成功,但Google在其他一些市场遇到了挫折,其中包括线上视讯市场。

  自2005年1月推出Google Video以来,Google尚未获得大量用户,目前在月访问者和用户数量方面仅排名全美第八。

  如果Google和YouTube达成交易,合并後的新公司将拥有与MySpace竞争的更大潜力。MySpace是一家知名的社交网站,根据网路研究公司comScore Networks提供的资料,目前MySpace是网路上最大的视讯提供商。

  透过收购YouTube,Google的视讯观众至少将增加三倍,排名也将大幅跃至第三位,仅次於MySpace和线上视讯市场的二号人物雅虎(YHOO)。

  截至周五美东时间下午1:54,在那斯达克上市的Google股票上涨7.09美元,至418.90美元,涨幅为1.72%;新闻集团的股票上涨26美分,至20.87美元,涨幅为1.26%。

With Google's technology, advertiser relationships and global reach, YouTube will continue to build on its success as one of the world's most popular services for video entertainment.

The number of Google shares to be issued in the transaction will be determined based on the 30-day average closing price two trading days prior to the completion of the acquisition. Both companies have approved the transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006.
